Coming to terms with your homosexuality as an American, surprising as it may seem, is not necessarily self-evident. Hundreds of thousands of them, as a result of social, family or religious pressure, engage in ‘conversion therapy’.
These therapies, which are in name only, promise to ‘repair’ a deviant sexual orientation, to change a person's deep-seated identity.
